Logofolio

A collection of logotypes, monograms, marks and other identification symbols designed by the E49 Creative Team.

Types of Logos or Marks

If you’re a business owner or work in the leadership team of an organization, and are looking to get a professional logo outsourced; you probably feel the pressure to obtain the best design with little to no financial risk. At E49 Creative, we understand your concern. We are here to help you dissolve that stress.

Even though a logo is only a small part of a larger branding picture, getting a better notion of what will serve you and your target audience, will ensure you get the right logo; a timeless mark for your brand.

In this collection we have put together different types of identity marks to help you identify which one aligns with your vision and brand’s goals better.

MONOGRAM OR LETTERMARK

A typographic designed based on the initials or Key typographic characters of an organization. A lettermark is a good choice for a company whose name is difficult to pronounce, or too long to work as a logo in most media. This is an especially important consideration when it will need to shrink down to tiny sizes on mobile devices, for example. (examples: CNN, ABC)

PICTORIAL MARK OR BRANDMARK

Contains no text but is an image, icon or symbol that represents the company or brand. A brand-mark can be a great way for audiences to form a psychological connection to your brand, as the brain responds on a deeper, more instinctive level to an image than written text, which needs to be interpreted. (examples: APPLE, TWITTER, NIKE’s swoosh)

WORDMARK OR LOGOTYPE

The simplest type of logo, casting the company’s name in text alone. They may be based on handwriting, signatures, custom fonts or (less common) existing fonts. (examples: FEDEX,AMAZON, COCA-COLA)

EMBLEMS OR COMBINATION MARKS

A combination mark is simply logotype and logomark combined into one logo. Text and image or icons are combined. (examples: STARBUCKS, NFL, HARLEY-DAVIDSON MOTORCYCLES, WARNER BROTHERS)

Choosing the right type of logo

Remember, your logo will live in both digital and physical environments. It will be scaled to different sizes, smaller than a penny and as big as a door; printed on paper, embroidered, and uploaded as a profile picture — the list goes on. That’s why it’s so common for brands to create designs with and without a symbol (or monogram) to have both at the ready.

Whatever logo type you choose, your design should leave an impression of your brand to help you connect with the right audience.
