Marco Polo is a video messaging mobile app that allows users to send and receive pre-recorded video messages storing them and making them accessible at any time. The Marco Polo App could soon face an exponential growth of active users and popularity.
Such thought, led us to consider the opportunity the app has to connect with new audiences. As a conceptual project we developed the icon, color, typography and visual identity systems for the Marco Polo app brand.
The primary objective leading the app’s new image is to maintain a familiar, joyful and warm feel while making it attractive and professional. The possibility of offering a Pro or paid version motivates the organization to attract investors, and businesses who may wish to advertise or make use of the app in professional settings.
The old icon consists of a beach ball with seven colored stripes. The new icon consists of a quatrefoil; a symmetrical shape made of the intersection of four equal circles and a subtle curved line at the bottom central circle suggesting a smile. Each segment then contains color representing diversity and individuality.
